Accident in Chernobyl was not accidental

In declassified archives, it is indicated that even before 1986, a number of violations and malfunctions were discovered at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

The director of the SBU's state-run state archive, Andrei Kogut, told Radio Liberty that the Chernobyl disaster was not accidental, since violations of the Chernobyl NPP were known during construction in the 1970s.

According to Kogut, the first document on violations of norms in the construction of a nuclear power plant dates back to 1973. And, as the director of the state archive of the SBU assures, it is extremely important to understand what happened before the catastrophe.

"These documents show that the Chernobyl disaster was not accidental. We can say that this accident was, unfortunately, programmed long before 1986, in fact it was impossible to avoid this accident, "he said.

Kogut noted that there are a lot of violations, because of which a tragedy occurred.
"By 1986 there were a number of malfunctions and violations at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. What is reflected in these reports explains why in 1986 the ceilings could not stand, "he explained.
According to him, there were problems with the construction, also the concrete was of the wrong quality and not of the brand "what is needed", it was poured "not in the way the technical norms assumed", so there were cracks.
"That is, this sloppiness led to the fact that the ceiling could not stand and collapsed inside", - summed up the archive director of the SBU.
Recall, the Chernobyl disaster happened on April 26, 1986. The fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded, as a result of which a large number of radioactive substances were released into the environment. The accident became the largest in the history of nuclear energy and the number of people killed and injured, and economic damage.
